From September 14–20, 2025, the global engineering community gathered in Uganda for the 11th UNESCO Africa Engineering Week & 9th African Engineering Conference, hosted by the Uganda Institution of Professional Engineers (UIPE) in partnership with the Federation of African Engineering Organizations (FAEO).
This premier gathering brought together engineers, academics, policymakers, and innovators to explore sustainable engineering solutions for Africa’s development and I was humbled to be part of it.
The Launch of The Odyssey of Milestones and Memories of FAEO
One of the defining highlights of the conference was the official launch of The Odyssey of Milestones and Memories of FAEO: 1972–2024.
As an author and contributor to this inspiring publication, I was deeply honored to witness the unveiling of a book that captures the resilience, breakthroughs, and legacies of African engineers across generations.
This book is not just a record of history it is a living testimony of how engineers have turned challenges into opportunities, leaving a lasting legacy for Africa’s future.
Why This Matters
For me, this milestone reinforces a simple truth:
- Every challenge faced today can be tomorrow’s breakthrough.
- Every young engineer’s journey matters in shaping the future.
- Our collective contribution has the power to build a sustainable and prosperous Africa.
A Call to the Next Generation
To the next generation of engineers, innovators, and dreamers: your story is still being written. May this book inspire you to rise above obstacles, embrace innovation, and lead with integrity.
Together, we can shape an Africa that thrives on engineering excellence, ethical leadership, and collaboration.
