Eng. Kazawadi Papias Dedeki
Pan-African Engineering Leader | Ethical Infrastructure Champion | Construction Entrepreneur |Project Management & Dispute Resolution Expert Eng. Kazawadi Papias Dedeki is a trailblazing Pan-African engineering leader, respected construction
entrepreneur, and a powerful voice for ethical, sustainable, and visionary infrastructure development across Africa and the Global South. With over 25 years of impact, he bridges high-level policy influence, professional engineering excellence, and practical business leadership.
He is the Immediate Past President of the Federation of African Engineering Organizations (FAEO) (2023–2024), where he led the organization's strategic repositioning to align with Africa’s Agenda 2063,
the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), and global engineering standards. During his tenure as Chairman of the World Federation of Engineering Organizations (WFEO) Committee on Anti- Corruption (2019–2023), he championed global standards of transparency, ethical conduct, and institutional accountability within the engineering profession.
A proven entrepreneur, Eng. Kazawadi successfully founded and led a construction company from 1996 to 2020, delivering infrastructure projects across Rwanda. Through this work, he gained firsthand insights into the business realities of the built environment, giving him a grounded, practical perspective
that complements his policy leadership.
His entrepreneurial legacy continues to inspire engineers and business professionals alike to merge technical excellence with integrity and innovation. Nationally, he served as President of the Institution of Engineers Rwanda (2017–2019), and has held leadership roles within the Rwanda Association of Building and Civil Works Contractors, serving as Vice Chairperson (2011–2015) and executive Board Secretary (2016–2024). In these capacities, he has led reform initiatives that strengthened professional standards and compliance systems in Rwanda's construction industry.
As a certified Professional Project Manager, and trained Mediator and Arbitrator, Eng. Kazawadi is highly sought after for resolving complex infrastructure disputes and guiding projects with strategic foresight, technical accuracy, and value-driven leadership. He is the creator of transformative leadership frameworks such as HAIR (Helicopter View, Analysis, Imagination, Reality) and STEIC (Social Responsibility, Transparency, Ethical Standards, Integrity, Collaboration)—tools that shape his work in governance, mentorship, and engineering transformation.
A prolific speaker and writer, he has delivered thought-provoking keynotes at global conferences and ministerial retreats, while contributing widely to public discourse through newspaper articles and academic presentations. His leadership ethos is rooted in a deep belief that Africa’s future will be built not just on infrastructure, but on values, competence, and collaboration.
Today, Eng. Kazawadi continues to champion the integration of engineering excellence, entrepreneurship, and policy advocacy to drive sustainable development, institutional integrity, and professional empowerment across Africa and beyond.
